Rick Deckard is human

     Sorry, but Rick Deckard is human.
     There is no indication by Philip K. Dick that he was an android.

     Also, it is very clear in the book that Rick Deckard has sex with Rachel, as it is very difficult, if not impossible,  for an android to turn off the sex drive once stimulation has occurred. 

     I was confused for years about this issue, but after listening to the Blade Runner audiobook several times, I'm just going to say that Rick Deckard is human.

     In the book, there is a bounty hunter who is an android, but it ain't Deckard.

     Anyway, if you thought there was no way to travel around the galaxy, you were quite wrong.

Arnold and Yoda

 Arnold:  Hello, Yoda.

 Yoda:  Hello, Arnold.

 Arnold:  You are a painting.  It is better than the cgi version of you.

 Arnold:  I was animated when I was in skeletal form.

 Yoda:  We have both had unusual speaking patterns on film.

 Arnold:  Yeah.

Yoda:  I wish Episodes I, II, and III never happened.

The Future of The Homeless

     The future is here.  It has arrived.  It is 2013.

     Imagine the date is December 17, 1978.  One would think the homeless problem would have been solved in forty years.

     Imagine the year 2053, with half the population homeless.  That is what I think will happen.  In any case, it might be a good movie, about people without homes fighting the people with homes.  It could be a whole war.

     The future hasn't turned out to be quite like what we would have thought.  We haven't even colonized Mars yet.

A Couple of Recommendations

     Anybody truly concerned with science fiction, besides reading 'Frankenstein' by Mary Shelly, should really investigate the works of Edgar Allan Poe.  You'll be glad you did.

    

     Also, if you are into science fiction films, look at 'Flash Gordon' on youtube.  Both 'Star Trek' and 'Star Wars' was influenced by Flash Gordon.
     I plan to rewatch every Flash Gordon episode, and take pictures of things that were used in later films.
     An example is the text in perspective that Star Wars used forty years later.

     I took these pictures because somebody wrote 'THX-1138' on the automatic hand dryer.

     'THX-1138' was one of George Lucas' movie before he made Star Wars.

     I still haven't seen that movie yet.

     It is one of those movies that I am supposed to have seen, but I've never gotten around to watching it yet.

     Pretty Funny, huh?


     I saw this tissue in the store, and I had to buy it just so I could pose the doll with the logo.  How could I resist?

     It was just too perfect.

     I normally don't like to use the word 'perfect', because nothing is.  But this is pretty darn close.
